Bogotá, COLOMBIA

This is the beautiful city of Bogotá, Colombia. We are heading there today for a worship conference and will enjoy seeing old friends and meeting new ones. We have friends in Cali and Medellin, as well, and I hope some of them will pop up when we're there. We used to go a couple of times a year but it's been 4 years since our last trip. Bogotá is a very interesting city. It's stunningly beautiful from a distance but there is so much poverty and crime on the streets that the up-close view is quite different. The elevation is over 8,000 ft which is twice the elevation of Salt Lake City where we live.  All this to 'say' that Bogotá literally takes your breath away. Seriously. I'm looking forward to the conference as Colombians are happy worshiping warriors!

Although Psalm 48:1-3 and Isaiah 52:6-8 (Message) are written about Zion, it is not only a reference to the actual mountain but to the prophetic worshipers of God's Kingdom. I am declaring this over Bogotá while we're there:

God majestic, praise abounds in our God-city!
His sacred mountain, breathtaking in its heights—earth's joy.
Zion Mountain looms in the North, city of the world-King.
God in his citadel peaks impregnable.

"Therefore my people will know my name; therefore in that day they will know
that it is I who foretold it. Yes, it is I." How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices; together they shout for joy. When the LORD returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes.

May God's abundant favor be your portion, Bogota!

Please pray for us while we're away. It will be a wonderful trip but there is considerable danger involved and we appreciate all the prayers that are offered on our behalf.

Blessings to you!

Prophetic Drumming

I'm teaching a class at WAC called Prophetic Use of Art and this is one of the examples I am offering to show the potential to connect with God through our creativity.  (Sorry I couldn't embed the video but it was prohibited, for some reason.)

What do you think about this? Do you like it? Hate it? Find it interesting? Indifferent to it?

I am always excited when I see God's people worshiping and praying outside of the box and long for the day when Christians embrace their creativity and begin to connect with Him and speak of Him in new ways.

Blessings to you!
